Look Om (Candy-shaped Amulet)
A popular, compact and easy-to-carry amulet, yet believed to possess various spiritual powers depending on the school of thought. It is typically made from a combination of sacred materials.
Main Beliefs/Spiritual Powers: All-encompassing, depending on the materials and consecration. Often focuses on: Metta Mahaniyom (loving-kindness/popularity), Klaew Klaad Pai (protection from danger), and Kongkapanchatri (invincibility). Some types emphasize protection against black magic or evil influences.
Distinguishing Features: Small, round objects about the size of a fingertip, made from sacred powders, herbal powders, flower pollen, auspicious soil, or betel nut residue. Often hand-molded and may be wrapped in string or coated in lacquer for durability.
Worship/Instructions:
Carrying: Commonly carried in a wallet, encased in a plastic pendant, or worn as a bracelet.
Worship: Due to its small size and ease of carrying, it's suitable for everyday life. No complicated rituals are required; simply keep it clean.
Prohibitions: As with all amulets, they should not be placed in inappropriate locations or treated disrespectfully. They should also not be carried to places of vice in order to maintain their spiritual power.
