Wua Thanu and Kwai Thanu (Bull and Buffalo Amulets)
These are considered "high-level protective and magical amulets" that focus on guarding territories and providing complete protection from threats of sorcery and evil spirits.
1. What are Wua Thanu/Kwai Thanu?
They are amulets created using magical arts to serve as "guardians of wealth" and "protective guardians." It is believed they can be released to guard a home, protect against ill-wishers, or counteract black magic.
Differences: Generally, their properties don't differ much, depending on the school and materials used. They mostly represent animals that are strong and resilient.
Key Materials: Authentic ancient Wua Thanu/Kwai Thanu are often made from rare and mystical materials such as bamboo growing across paths, animal horns (albino buffalo horns), graveyard soil, or metal cast with auspicious and magically infused materials.
2. Beliefs and Main Spiritual Benefits
Territory Protection: Acts as a guardian of homes, shops, or land, protecting them from spirits, black magic, curses, or ill-wishers.
Warning: Worshippers believe that if danger or unusual events occur, the bull/buffalo amulet will show signs of warning or give the worshipper a premonition.
Property Protection: Highly suitable for those seeking the security of their property or valuables.
Power: A fierce and powerful amulet, more suitable for protection than for attracting favor or charm.
3. Worship and Practices
Placement: Typically placed in front of the house, at the entrance, or in a location requiring protection. It is not advisable to place it with Buddha images or high-ranking deity amulets, as it is considered a semi-divine, semi-spiritual or fierce amulet.
Offerings: Typically, clean water, fresh grass, or reed water (according to ancient tradition) are offered.
Caution: Because this is a relatively powerful amulet, it should be obtained from a truly knowledgeable practitioner. Upon bringing it into the home, the local spirits and deities should be informed to ensure its protective function is complete.
